I confirm that using SQ8L is a good option. You can create a sound in that VST and then dump it into the ESQ-1. There is also a Ctrlr (free software standalone and VST program) panel available but like the programmer of the panel said: turn a knob too fast. And the ESQ-1 goes in overload and reboots. The panel itself (or the pic of the panel) might be good to have a look at. It gives you all parameters of the ESQ-1 in a 1 page overview. When you dig into it programming on the ESQ-1 is not difficult and a lot of fun. Good luck, Robin The Netherlands Junior Member Posts: 210 Joined: Fri Apr 24, 2015 1:56 pm. I used SoundDiver! But I guess that's a closed door for many too. Indeed it's not too difficult to program but maybe for the first-timer, someone who is short on time (work/family committments) it can seem a bit confusing. Years ago I bought a user manual written by some 3rd party in the US, sadly it was total rubbish. Thanks to the internet info now is everywhere. As with most ensoniq gear, first understand the synth structure, where everything is and what it does (30 minute job). Then the second level of understanding/play/fun is getting to grips with the modulator options. ![]() The ensonq kit I have are all very similar, it's subtle uses of the modulators that bring the sounds to life, or disaster! Although, what took up a lot of my time was when I knew what I wanted to do, just had to find it in the synth. As mentioned I think there is a free editor now in Ctrlr, what's even better, everyone is free to modify it to suit their style/needs. I've written a few editors myself in Ctrlr although there are various 'gotchas'.
